The aim of the project:
Kállósemjén is a disadvantaged settlement of a disadvantaged micro-region. There are many unemployed and many families in difficult situations on the surrounding homesteads. Due to the characteristics of the settlement, there are not too many recreational opportunities, there is no cinema, theater, nightclub, or room suitable for sports. There are no community spaces where people can get together. This was made even more difficult by the virus situation. Human relationships have deteriorated even more. The 4 members of our group grew up here in Kállósemjén and we can thank lot to the association and the people working in the association. We played a lot, even our parents learned a lot of board games here, which we also played at home with the family. We believe that especially now because of the pandemic situation and the long period of confinement, it is very important for people and especially families to live a community life. That’s why we want to implement a project where we teach board games to families to bring them together as much as possible. We think it’s important for a village like ours to try to provide as many opportunities as possible for growing children. We want to show them how important it is to have a good community to which one is happy to return. We’ve played a lot here together and we feel like we belong here, we’re part of this community even when most of us are preparing for college or are already going there. It’s a good feeling to visit home during your college years, run into acquaintances, and see something important with the work of our hands in it. The thought fills us all with pride. We also did our summer volunteer work and community service in the settlement. We worked together at the summer camp last summer and then we talked about how good these common games we learned were. We also get together at the dormitory to play to this day, and even the family is happy to play on holidays. The game also brought us together, so why not bring together a larger community, which is a recreational opportunity for those living in the town. The pandemic situation has worn down many families, generations have not been able to meet each other. The closure has caused the most problems for the older generation, but the parent-child relationship is not cloudless either because of online education. The confinement, the many burdens placed on parents to help with education, often led to conflicts. This is how the idea came that playing is a recreational opportunity for all ages that relieves tension, brings joy together, and most importantly, spend this time together, as unfortunately, families spend very little time playing together these days. With these intergenerational opportunities, we can help return to everyday life, live community life again. We teach groups games that they can play with parents, grandparents, friends at home. Thus, shared experiences, shared games, lead to shared conversations and reshape families into cohesive communities, and also bring children closer together. Our target group is children, parents, and grandparents of families living in the settlement. The goal is to create an active community that will help, support, and be sensitive to each other’s problems. We shake people to feel the importance of community life.
Activities:
In case of a winning tender, we plan to implement the following activities: 1. Organizing and conducting game sessions moving 3 generations: providing a venue, requesting a room from the local government that can accommodate at least 25-30 people, and have a suitable table and chairs for groups of 8-10 people where they can play board games. Once the venue is in place, we plan the frequency of events, the target group, the games required, the duration of the event, and the announcement of the events (who, where, and when will the participants be informed, recruited, who will teach which game?) 2. the organization of community game days (2 events/month): who will open the room, who will teach which game, how we will initiate the joint conversations, who will bring the soft drink and mineral water to the events, we will bake cookies together beforehand, who will rearrange the room after the game, who will clean it, etc.) those responsible for the events, the organizers, are planned for 1 year in advance (of course, if necessary, it can be reviewed, supplemented or possibly changed on the fly, but the plan should be to know everything in time. 3. After the games we evaluate the opinions and oral feedback of the participants (how many people came to the event, how many main returning participants do we have, who has which game? did you like it, how active was the conversation during the game, do the communities get together outside of the events we organize, do the participants take home a game, what is the atmosphere like at the joint events, etc.?) 4. With the help of the Coach, we evaluate the work done so far each month and review the plans and amend if necessary. 5. After each game event, we share common experiences, the best moments of the game. We hope to report after 1 year that participants want to continue these friendly, playful gatherings without us. We will also share the results on the association's website, Facebook page, the Semjéni Chronicle, and the municipality's website.
Expected results:
- Our goal is to provide the population of the settlement with the opportunity to organize joint programs. - during joint programs we teach games that bring family members closer together (parents, children, grandparents can play together) - joint games promote the formation of groups of friends (parents group, children group, grandparents group, young people group) who enjoy playing together - they create communities that spend quality time together and find useful leisure opportunities in the settlement - these communities learn to talk to each other about common topics during the game, and they also talk to families about important things in the life of the settlement, discuss what works well here, what else is needed - they become a caring community - the goal is to create a community that helps each other, will be sensitive to each other's problems - in working together we five learn to plan and work together to make our group better together. - in the meantime, we have the opportunity to learn and try new things - we can learn about our abilities, how we can mobilize a larger community for a goal, how we can support them in becoming a truly living community
